GUWAHATI: Assam has sought additional 15,000 metric tons (MT) of rice from Food Corporation of India (FCI) for the purpose of distribution among flood-affected people as gratuitous relief. The decision to procure the additional quantum of rice was taken during a recent meeting on flood preparedness held in Dispur. The State Food & Civil Supplies department has already written a letter to FCI towards this end. The Assam Government will bear the cost of such procurement of rice.
