GUWAHATI: The Shiksha Setu App has been updated and update is live in Google Play Store, according to a tweet from Samagra Shiksha Assam (SSA). The update includes the capability of the app to function offline, especially in terms of providing location services.

This feature was earlier announced by Education Minister Ranoj Pegu. In a tweet, the Education Minister said, “the Shiksha Setu App will function offline without a network. Yes, it will. Some people are questioning - how? The issue is fetching location. The Shiksha Setu software will utilise the Google location services in-built library of Android to fetch the location. So, we will record offline date, time and location when we click a photo in Shiksha Setu.”

The Shiksha Setu app will avail the Google location services’ in-built library of Android to fetch the location. Once the current location is available, a head teacher or principal of a school will be able to record offline the date, time and location when clicking a photo. The information can be uploaded once internet service is available.

Moreover, the group attendance feature has been simplified and if teachers click the group icon it will directly open the multiple attendance screen and if they want to take the attendance in portrait mode, they have to click the mobile icon in the screen, SSA said.

SSA also said that an enhanced AI code has been integrated in the app for easier capturing of attendance.

The tweet from SSA also stated that anyone can now directly update the app and provided instructions on how to go about it.

Head teachers and other teachers were requested to open the Shiksha Setu app. Once they open the app, the update screen from Play Store will directly pop up, and then they have to click on update. If the pop up does not get displayed, they have been asked to open Play Store and search for Shiksha Setu app. Once the app is found, they have to click on update and the app will be updated, said the instructions by SSA.
