GUWAHATI: The Special Director General of Police, Harmeet Singh, interacted with the students from Delhi Public School, Guwahati, regarding protection in the interverse and the perils of cyberspace as a part of the Child Rights Week celebrations rolled out by the Assam Police.
During the interactive session, the Special DGP talked about issues like cyberbullying, sharenting (the practice of parents sharing photos and news about their children online), online abuse, and responsible and positive use of social media, among others. "The biggest child protection challenge today comes from the online space. In today's day and age, we have to build the capacities of children to protect themselves from cybercrime," said the Special DGP. The programme was followed by a Q&A session with the students. The Child Rights Week celebrations started on November 14 and would continue until World Children's Day on November 20, 2023. The celebrations are part of the Sishu Mitra Programme, a collaborative effort of the Assam Police with UNICEF and UTSAH.
