GUWAHATI: The All Assam Unique ID cum Assam TET Qualified Forum has demanded expeditious appointment of those candidates who passed the Special TET examination held in 2021, along with those who hold Unique IDs awarded by the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), Assam.

Addressing the media here on Sunday, the forum's president Debendra Chandra Tamuli said that there are 950 candidates who either passed the Special TET examination or hold the Unique IDs. Candidates with Unique IDs had been demanding appointment as teachers in primary schools, but the Government had announced that appointment would be impossible with TET qualification as per Nationa Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) norms. As such, he said, they sat for the Special TET examination. However, due to the preponderance of out-of-syllabus questions, the majority of candidates failed to clear the Special TET examination. Some, however, qualified to become lower primary or upper primary teachers.

Tamuli demanded that the Government should issue a separate advertisement for recruitment of those who passed the Special TET examination as well as those holding Unique IDs. He demanded that candidates with Unique IDs should be given the opportunity to apply for recruitment and they should also be awarded 50 extra marks under the head of experience.

Tamuli also demanded increasing of the upper-age limit and the cut-off marks.
