GUWAHATI: An Assamese documentary film by Kishore kalita, titled Veerangana has begged s special festival mention award in the 8th Indian Cine Film Festival-20 where 495 films from 60 countries across the globe participated.
The festival was held in Mumbai and the results were announced on September 6. The film was based on the birth growth and works of the Veerangana team of Assam Police which was set up as a special woman force for protection of women working in Guwahati city.
Veerangana was a brainchild of the present DGP of Assam Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, and DIG Satyaraj Hazarika played a vital role in the formation and training of the Veerangana team. This documentary beautifully projected the entire concept along with some personnel details of the working Veeranganas and that part helped a lot to put life in documentary.
The screenplay was written by eminent director and screenplay writer Utpal Datta, the cameraman was Nagen Baishya, Rajdweep penned the title music which was tuned and sung by popular singer Zublee Baruah. Abhijit Barman designed the sound and Diganta Bora was the editor of the film, a press release said.
