GUWAHATI: Bhupen Borah, the president of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, was physically assaulted by unidentified miscreants. The incident unfolded in the Jamugurihat area of Sonitpur district in Assam on Sunday.

Bedabrat Bora, the Co-chairman of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) media cell, has strongly condemned the attack on Bhupen Borah. Bora is demanding a thorough judicial inquiry into the incident and the immediate arrest of the assailants responsible for the assault. He asserted that an FIR had already been filed at the Jamugurihat Police Station by the Sonitpur District Congress Committee. Bora warned that if the culprits are not apprehended promptly, the APCC is prepared to stage a protest to seek justice for Bhupen Borah.

Lurinjyoti Gogoi, the President of Assam Jatiya Parishad, criticized the government for failing in its duty to ensure the safety of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Gogoi expressed concern that instead of facilitating the yatra, the government and administration have put security at risk. He described the assault on Bhupen Borah as unfortunate and called for the immediate arrest of the miscreants responsible for the attack.
