GUWAHATI: The automated traffic signal system at ABC Point on GS Road in Guwahati started working from Tuesday. The system had been out of order for the past one year or so. This reporter was greeted by a traffic police officer this morning for the renovated traffic signals system. The Sentinel was on record publishing as many as three reports on the non-functioning automated traffic signal system at a place that has important installations like Rajiv Bhawan, Nemcare Hospital, Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), malls etc.
Talking to this reporter, a traffic policeman said: “An automated traffic signal system makes vehicle users follow traffic rules on their own. The lighting of diverse colours gets across diverse traffic rules for vehicle users to follow. We’ve been working with manpower much less than the actual number of sanctioned posts. If there are such automated traffic signals, we can get works done with less manpower.”
