GUWAHATI: The Bar Council of India successfully conducted the All India Bar Examination XVII on Sunday by paper and pen mode across 53 cities and 261 centres with technology enabled monitoring and confidentiality processes to ensure no impersonation and fair exam practice. The candidates had the option to attempt the exam in English, Hindi and 21 regional languages.

Around 1,73,586 advocates had registered for the All India Bar Exam XVII, while 1,71,402 candidates appeared for the examination. Thus 98.7% successfully appeared in this examination. This is almost double to the count of Advocates/candidates who had appeared for the last AIBE. A total of 9,254- Invigilators, 261 Center Superintendents, 261 Assistant Centre Superintendents, 261 Centre In-Charge, 1846, Exam Co-ordinators, 53 District Managers, 10 Divisional Heads, 5 Agency Heads, 183 vehicles, and 130 route managers and a total of 12,447 plus other man power was deployed for the exam.

Each centre was monitored by CCTV and the coverage was telecasted live in the monitoring room Command Centre set up by BCI. Biometric attendance of candidates were also taken as an additional measure wherever possible though verification was first ensured by way of taking signature of each candidate while giving the examination. The examination was conducted meticulously and efficiently in a most well planned and organized manner. No incident of usage of illegal means/cheating was reported at any of the exam centers and the exam was held in a most successful manner at all centres throughout India, stated a press release.
