GUWAHATI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) constituted the new office-bearers with the approval of national president JP Nadda. Nadda also appointed a new general secretary (organisation) for Haryana, Assam, Tripura, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

From Assam, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, a Member of Parliament representing Jorhat in the Rajya Sabha, has been appointed as the National Secretary. On the other hand, G. R. Ravindra Raju is appointed as general secretary (Organisation) of Assam and Tripura.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed the public through a tweet about the new office bearers: “Heartiest congratulations to all the newly-appointed office bearers of the BJP, including our esteemed colleague from Assam Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, on his appointment as the National Secretary of the BJP.

With the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, I have full confidence that each one of you will serve the party and the nation with dedication and excellence. Your contributions will undoubtedly lead to greater progress and prosperity for our country.”

Prior to this, Dilip Saikia, the Lok Sabha MP from Mangaldai, was working as the national general secretary of the BJP. On the other hand, the BJP appointed Phanindra Nath Sharma as general secretary (organisation) for the Haryana state unit and G. R. Ravindra Raju in a similar position for its Assam and Tripura units. Both Raju and Sharma will be swapping positions. Vivek Dadhakar is appointed as the general secretary (organisation) for the Andaman and Nicobar unit..
