GUWAHATI: The Bhumi Adhikar Sangram Samittee (BASS) has requested the State government to spell out as to how families will be given land pattas in Guwahati.

BASS had a meeting on this matter in Guwahati on Sunday. BASS president Pravinjyoti Kalita said after the meeting that on October 5, 2020 the State government had made an announcement to provide land pattas to 85,000 families in the State. "Around 22,000 families have applied for land pattas in Guwahati. We want to know as to how many families in Guwahati will get land pattas. Many of the 22,000 applicants' lands have not been surveyed. Giving land pattas to only a special class of people won't be accepted. The process of giving land pattas should be made easier, and the pattas should be given on the spot," Kalita said.

The BASS and the Guwahati Mati Patta Karan Sangram Samiti held a meeting here on Sunday at Kailashpurpur BASS office. The main demand of the meeting was 'land pattas to all' in Guwahati. Around 80 city units of the BASS took part at the meeting. BASS is going to start a drive on the demand for land pattas from October 1, 2020.
