Bike taxi driver arrested for allegedly assaulting passenger in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A motorbike taxi driver was arrested on Monday for allegedly assaulting a female passenger in Guwahati.

According to the sources, the victim had booked a bike through an app-based bike service to travel from Jayanagar to Rehabari in the city. The driver, identified as Dipen Gohain, allegedly tried to misbehave with the woman while travelling. When she resisted, he allegedly hit her with his helmet. As a result, she sustained head injuries.

A team of Dispur police has detained the bike driver and initiated legal proceedings against him.
