GUWAHATI: An Assamese language feature film is going to be made on the life story of Forest Man Jadav Payeng (Mulai) on the basis of the novel Rumyang by Gobin Kumar Khound.

The direction and screenplay of the film will be handled by Nimanada Das. She said that the team is all set to start the shooting from April.

Das said that Pabitra Rabha will play the role of Jadav Payeng and for other characters; several tribal people from Assam will be casted. “When I went through the novel Rumyang, I found that the novel has some cinematic quality. After getting the copyright we started working on the film. As the screenplay is demanding for some seasonal changes, we are thinking about to start shooting in the first phase of April”, added Das.

Further, he asserted that the most challenging part of the film will be a five day long live shooting during flood and to portray the 35 years long journey of Payeng (Mulai) towards creating a forest in just two hours of film.

“We are trying to portray what is written in the novel. Being the director I will focus on portraying all the positive aspects about the love for a forest. The prime objective of making this film is to inspire the people to develop love for trees. Another challenging part of the film is to portray the man-elephant conflict and animal-human conflict which was a challenging part for Payeng himself in his journey. So far as the music is concerned we are basically thinking of to play with the ambience sound. Besides this Tarali Sarma will do the background music for the film.”
