Bishnupriya Manipuri monolingual dictionary released at Silchar College

 GUWAHATI: The first Bishnupriya Manipuri monolingual dictionary titled Bishnupriya Manipuri Jatiya Abhidhan was released on Monday at Silchar College by Prof. Dr Ramakanta Das, professor of Folklore of Assam University.

It was compiled and edited by Dils Lakshmindra Sinha, chief editor, Dr Santosh Sinha, editor, and Anita Sinha, editor. The book was released in the seminar-cum-workshop held on Bishnupriya Manipuri Folklore organized by Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Assam, at Silchar College.

The seminar was inaugurated by Rajib Roy, District Development Commissioner, Cachar in presence of distinguished writers. Dr Ramakanta Das termed the dictionary as a milestone of Bishnupriya Manipuri literature and explained in brief the need of documentation of the rich Bishnupriya Manipuri folk literature.

The dictionary will be released in Guwahati on April 2, stated a press release.
