GUWAHATI: A versatile Bishnupriya Manipuri poet and writer Dils Lakshmindra Sinha received the 'Dr Shiv Barua Memorial Lokamangal Alankaran Award' at the two-day International Literary Festival at Gwalior organized by Gwalior Sahitya Sangathan, Indian Institute of Tour and Travel Management and Purbottar Hindi Sahitya Academy. The literary festival concluded on December 25, 2022. It was part of the Azad Ka Amrit Mohotsav.

Dils Sinha deliberated on the languages, literature and cultures of the northeastern region, with special reference to the language and culture of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community and the role of the community in the struggle for India's independence. He sang Jyotiprasad Agarwala's 'biswabijoy naba jowan' at the literary festival.

Many poets and social activists from the Northeast attended the literary festival. Some of them also received awards. Rita Singh, Dr Anita Panda of Shillong, Jaisree Bodo of Kokrajhar and Lousi Bista of Sikkim were some of them. The poets from the Northeast left impressive imprints at the literary festival.
