GUWAHATI, Jan 17: The BMTCDC (Bishnupriya Manipuri Territorial Council Demand Committee) has sent its reminder to the President, the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, other Union ministers; the Governors and Chief Ministers of Assam, Tripura and Manipur and others in support of its demand for the creation of Bishnupriya Manipuri Territorial Councils in Assam, Tripura and Manipur by enacting Acts, and other demands.
This is the first reminder by BTMDC after the sit-in staged by its chief executive member Bidhan Sinha during the recent Assam Assembly session at Dispur Last Gate. The reminder was handed over to the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate, Kamrup (M) on January 15, 2021.
The other demands of the Committee are inclusion of the Bishnupriya Manipuri language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India, establishment of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyaklayas initially from pre-primary standards onward up to the higher secondary level with NCC and Scouts and Guides in every gaon panchayat and village council areas in Assam and other States in the Northeast, etc.
