Book on Constitutional safeguards of Assam released at Guwahati Press Club

GUWAHATI: A compilation of essays on Constitutional safeguard of Assamese nationality and other related issues entitled Asamiyar Sanbidhanik Rakkhakabas (Line Prathar para Asam Chuktir 6 No. Dafa Samitiloi Esa Bachariya [1920-2020] Parikrama), was released at the Guwahati Press Club on Saturday.

The book is written by Pulin Kalita and published by Jagaran Sahitya Prakashan.

Kalita said that the book is an attempt to define the term Assamese, which has been a matter of concern and controversy. He said this book tries to examine the complex issue of Assamese identity. “When it comes to Indian identity, it’s clear to define but not the Assamese identity,” Kalita said.

Noted writers and personalities of the state Munin Bayan, Prasanta Rajguru, Ananta Hazarika, Diganta Oja and many others were present on the occasion.

Munin Bayan stated that the book may be termed as a logical conclusion for issues that Assam has been dealing with since a long time.
