GUWAHATI: Expecting the presence of over two lakh devotees from all over the country, the Brahmaputra Pushkar and Sanskritik Mahotsav-2019 will be held from November 5 to November 16.
Addressing a press conference at the conference venue of Sri Sankardev Nethralaya, president of the organizing committee K Muthuswamy said, “The Brahmaputra Pushkar and Sanskritik Mahotsav will be held from November 5 onwards till November 16. The adjoining bank of river Brahmaputra of Sonaram H.S. field at Bharalumukh is selected to conduct the holy Pushkar. It is basically a river festival and this auspicious festival should not remain limited within Assam but in India as well. The festival is being organized by Purva Tirupati Balaji Seva Samiti, Guwahati and Mahalakshmi Charitable Trust along with some other likeminded organization and citizens of Guwahati.”
Ramen Sarma, Secretary of the organizing committee of Brahmaputra Pushkar Sanskritik Mahotsav-2019 said, “The Pushkar Mahotsav-2019 is organized as per the blessings and guidance of Shankarachary Vijayendra Saraswati Swamigal of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Kanchipuram. We are expecting around two lakh devotees from all over the country to take part in the rituals and festivals and from tourism perspective too, we can expect a positive impact. We’ve requested the government to take some measure in case of transport and in the maintenance of traffic along with the riverside area.”
According to the organizers the budget is around 70 lakh and the organizing committee has not taken any kind of financial assistance from the government of Assam. Hence the money has been collected from donations only and the Mahalakshmi Charitable Trust, Chennai is assisting a lot in the financial matter.
