Guwahati: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Sahu on Monday informed that all the nominated candidates having criminal records in their names will have to publish their records in both Newspapers and Television for at least three times as per the new modified Election Commission directives.
Addressing the media persons today at Janata Bhawan, Mukesh Sahu said that as per earlier Election Commission Directives, the candidates will also have to file an affidavit declaring about their criminal charges as per the Election Commission Directives.
The candidates will also have to fill the FORM 26 which has been modified, in this form the candidates will have to declare their overseas properties, Income Tax returns for the last five years.
Also, briefing the media, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Sahu said, “There is a prescribed Form C1, in this form the candidates having criminal charges will have to fill up the form mentioning about their criminal records in it. Criminal records need to be published for at least three times in the media (print/ electronic) during the election campaign period.”
