Guwahati: In tune with the nationwide rollout of Phase II, Capacity Building Programme for Elected Women Representatives (EWRs) of Panchayati Raj Institutions, the first Capacity Building Programme in Assam State concluded in Kamrup Metro District today at the Venue of Conference Hall of Zila Parishad, Kamrup Metro, Panbazar. Guwahati.
This three-day intensive programme started on 20 February 2019 where Women Gaon Panchayat Presidents/ Vice Presidents/Members were given training on Women and Child Laws, Child Protection, Empowering women in PRI, Financial Literacy, Online Safety, SHGs, Road Construction, Know your Village, Administration etc. The objective is to develop the EWRs as change agents and improve their leadership qualities and management skills for better implementation of various programmes of Government. Another objective is to empower the EWRs by developing leadership capacities so that they serve as catalysts for social change and function as peer facilitators in the field, become vocal for their rights and participate effectively in the governance processes.
This Capacity Building Programme is being implemented by AMS in association with NIPCCD (organisation of Ministry of Women and Child Development) in 33 Districts of Assam and will be completed in the month of March 2019.
A lot of support has been received from the Offices of Commissioner of Panchayat & Rural Development, Assam, Zila Parishad and the Gaon Panchayat Presidents have benefitted with this Capacity Building Programme. In Assam 1485 EWRs will benefit from this initiative, said the Regional Manager (Knowledge Services) NE of AMS, Shri BidyutBikashRajkonwar.In Phase-II, 18 States of India have been included for capacity building programmes for EWRs
