GUWAHATI: The State Election Commission (SEC) has brought some changes in the schedule of the Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) poll slated to be held on December 17, 2020. The changes are from the last date of filing nomination papers to the publication of the list of the contesting candidates.
According to the fresh notification issued by the SEC, the last date for filing of nomination papers now is November 28 against November 25, 2020 earlier. Likewise, the scrutiny of nomination papers will be on December 1 against November 26 earlier. The list of validly nominated candidates will be published on December 1, against November 26 earlier. The date for both withdrawal of candidatures and publication of list of contesting candidates will be on December 3 against November 28, 2020 earlier.
There is no change in rest of the poll schedule notified earlier. The election will be held on December 17, 2020 from 7.30 am to 4.30 pm. The re-poll, if any, will be held on December 18 and the counting will be from 8 am on December 19, 2020.
The TAC has 36 constituencies spread in four districts – Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai and Kamrup (M). The TAC has 404 polling stations with 4,33,194 voters – 2,18,240 males, 2,14,952 females and 2 third gender.
