GUWAHATI: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Kamrup Metro District staged a protest in front of the office of Assam Chemical and Pharmaceutical Company (ACPC) at Gopinath Nagar, Guwahati.

Around 200 members staged the protest against their 'anti-labour' move demanding withdrawal of suspension of two workers of the ACPC.

In a statement the CITU, Kamrup Metro District president BirenSarma said, "ACPC secretary RajibBaishya and assistant secretary Jitu Das has been suspended by the Assam Chemical and Pharmaceutical Company. It has been 10 months but their suspension has not been withdrawn. Despite the CITU's numerous appeals, the managing director has not withdrawn the suspension. In this regard a tri-party discussion was also held.

Following the protest, the body submitted a memorandum to the managing director to withdraw the suspension and appoint the workers for their duties.
