GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday inaugurated the newly built 'Bidhan Sabha Swastha Sewa Kendra' (Assembly Health Care Centre) at MLA Hostel campus of Assam Legislative Assembly. The Chief Minister also officially received his health card from Speaker Biswajit Daimary.
It may be mentioned here that the Assembly Health Care Centre will provide various facilities like pharmacy, laboratory, physiotherapy clinic etc. Doctor, nurse and pharmacists will be available round the clock in the hospital. In addition, a specialist doctor from Guwahati Medical College will also serve in this hospital for 5 days a week. A digital health card will be provided by the Centre to the present and former MLAs, their families and officials of the Assembly Secretariat for their treatment, stated a press release.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that MLAs must always be in good health to stay active in the service of the people. The hospital will be a major boost regarding the Healthcare services provided to the present and former MLAs as well as their family members and officials of the assembly secretariat, he added.
Thanking the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary for his initiatives for infrastructural reforms of the assembly premises, Chief Minister Sarma expressed his optimism towards holding the next session of the Assembly at the new Assembly House. He also mentioned that the government has already allocated the necessary funds in this regard.
ALA Speaker Biswajit Daimary delivered the welcome address in the programme where Health Minister Keshab Mahanta also spoke. Deputy Speaker of the ALA Dr. Numal Momin, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pijush Hazarika, Leader of the Opposition of ALA Debabrata Saikia and several other Ministers and MLAs were also present on the occasion.
