Creations of maestro promote harmony in society: Sonowal
GUWAHATI: "Bharat Ratna Dr. BhupenHazarika's creations promote harmony in society. His invaluable contributions act as a bridge in taking forward the Assamese community to the global platform".
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said this while taking part at the observation of 9th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. BhupenHazarika organized by Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam at the premises of the late doyen's Samadhi Kshetra at Jalukbari in the city today. As part of the observation, Chief Minister Sonowal offered floral tribute at the statue and samadhisthal of the cultural doyen.
The Chief Minister urged all sections of the society to join hands to sustain peace and harmony in the state. He further said that transcending the boundaries of the country and region, DrHazarika was able to establish Assamese identity on the global cultural map and introduced the world to the music and culture of the State. He also urged all to follow the footsteps of Dr. Hazarika to carry forward the State's rich cultural traditions far and wide.
Sonowal also called upon the youth to study the life and works of the 'Bard of Brahmaputra' saying that a deep understanding of Dr. Hazarika's creations would broaden their outlook and boost humanitarian values among them.
Minister of State for Cultural Affairs (independent charge) Naba Kumar Doley, MP Queen Oja and Chief Minister's Media Adviser HrishikeshGoswami also spoke on the occasion, a press release said.
