GUWAHATI: Chief Minister SarbanandaSonowal released the Assamese and Hindi edition of a book MahasilpiJyoti Prasad Agarwala written by Om PrakashGattani at his official residence in Guwahati on Sunday.
The book highlights the personality of the legendary artiste and his contribution towards Assamese art and culture.
Sonowal, while appreciating the initiative of the author, observed that the book would help in promoting the values and contributions of RupkonwarJyoti Prasad Agarwala across the country. He also urged to translate the book into English so that it reaches world readers.
Stating that Jyoti Prasad Agarwala through his creative works espoused the humanitarian values, the Chief Minister said that his works inspired the younger generation to contribute for nation building. Sonowal said that the legendary artiste was a lover of nature which he reflected in many of his songs and advocated for preservation of nature. The Chief Minister further stressed promoting more awareness about the importance of nature and biodiversity for human survival and said that there should have a balance between ecology and economy as well as humanity and technology.
Along with the writer, the programme was also attended by Chief Minister's Legal Adviser SantanuBharali, publisher of the book ManojGoswami, daughter of Jyoti Prasad AgarwalaSatyashree Das and several others, a press release said.
