GUWAHATI: Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has directed the officials to conduct the Chief Minister's Special Scholarship Examination 2020 after improvement in the COVID situation.
Pegu was attending a meeting with high-level officers of the Education Department and the Asom Rajyik Prathamik Sikshak Sanmilani (ARPSS) here on Tuesday where various issues regarding primary education were discussed.
The ARPSS suggested to the Education Minister some measures to provide primary education in the State amid the COVID situation. The Minister assured the body that the department will consider their suggestions. The meeting also finalized to give agreements to the contractual teachers under Sarba Siksha Abhiyan and State Pool within a month.
Moreover, the Minister assured the ARPSS that he will hold talks with the Chief Minister to provide salaries to the family members of a contractual teacher if he/she dies during service. During the meeting, Pegu stressed that issues regarding the headmaster posts and grade pay of primary schools' graduate teachers will be solved within two months.
Further, he directed the officers to address the technical problems due to which the recently appointed teachers are being deprived of their salaries.
The Minister underlined that mutual transfer of teachers will be started within 45 days. He assured the ARPSS that he will attend a meeting with the latter once every three months.
It is to be noted that, during the meeting, the ARPSS was represented by in-charge president Anwar Hussain, general secretary Ratul Chandra Goswami, among other office-bearers.
