GUWAHATI: The CPI Assam State Committee has started a statewide protest in support of its three demands – immediate withdrawal of the Ordinance decided by the State Council of Ministers for the setting up of MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) without permission for three years in the State, a CBI inquiry into the spread of COVID-19 among the inmates of the Central Jail in the city and freeing all captives for the cases against them in connection with the Anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) agitation.

The two-day protest will continue till Monday. On Sunday the protest took place in Nazira and in some places in Golaghat district. The party is going to stage such protests in Guwahati at Rajgarh on Monday. In a statement issued to the media, the party said that in the name of offering opportunities for the rehabilitation of migrant workers in the State, the Ordinance will pave the way for outside industrialists and businessmen to acquire lands of the indigenous people of the State.
