GUWAHATI: A prohibitory order was released by the DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police), Guwahati, where section 144 was invoked upon suspicion that some unspecified persons or organizations/ associations are likely to disturb normal functioning of offices, movement of public and flow of traffic in parts of central police district, Guwahati. It is apprehended that such groups of persons or organizations/ associations are planning to carry out agitation / demonstration/ shouting of slogans, which may cause breach of peace and public order and may cause disturbance of peaceful movement of public. The DCP has deemed that it is necessary to take preventative measures to ensure peaceful movement of public, smooth flow of traffic and normal functioning of offices. As such, assembly of more than five persons in any area, carrying of arms and ammunition, explosives and weapons of any nature, procession and shouting inciting communal violence, gambling in public places, and use of loudspeakers is porhibited. The order is to come into force with immediate effect.
