GUWAHATI: Along with different parts of the State, the city paid homage to journalist, writer and social activist Parag Kumar Das by celebrating his death anniversary on Sunday.

Many intellectuals and family members recalled Das who is considered as the one who paved a new way of journalism in Assam.

Following the lockdown norms, his friends, family and the members of the Manab Adhikar Sangram Samity (MASS) paid a floral tribute at his memorial at Rajgarh Road where he was shot by miscreants.

At the memorial to pay homage, Senior advocate Arup Borbora said the relevance of Parag Kumar Das has been increasing day by day. For the past few years the whole Assamese entity is going through a critical situation, he added. Further, he said, "I hope on the day of his death anniversary, the new Assamese generation will take inspiration to work for the sake of Assam and Assamese pride."
