GUWAHATI: The sensation regarding the recent recovery of the body of an 11-year-old girl of Joypur in the Kharguli area in Guwahati took a fresh turn on Sunday when the mystery behind her death came light that she had died after drowning in the Brahmaputra. Earlier it was suspected to be a murder.

According to police sources, on April 16 the girl had snacks along with three of her male peers at an eatery at Kharguli. From there, according to the police, they went home only to return and go to the bank of the Brahmaputra. When her male colleagues started bathing in the river, she too went and drowned, the police said, based on the confessional statement of the boys. Over the past few days, the boys refrained from disclosing this out of fear.

The police said that since all the three boys are minors, they will be produced before the CWC (Child Welfare Committee). The police said that the truth will come only after getting the report of the post-mortem.
