GUWAHATI: The AASU (All Assam Students' Union) has urged the APSC (Assam Public Service Commission) to defer the combined competitive examinations (CCE) Mains, 2022, scheduled for June 2023.

The AASU sent a memorandum to the APSC urging it to defer the CCE Mains examinations. A statement issued by AASU president-in-charge Utpal Sarma and general secretary Sankor Jyoti Baruah said, "The APSC has already announced the results of the CCE-2022 preliminary examination, and the APSC is scheduled to hold the main examination in June this year. However, the state universities have postgraduate examinations in June. Many postgraduate students have cleared the CCE prelims and are ready to face the CCE main examination. However, such candidates are at a loss as to how they will sit for their semester examinations and the CCE mains. If they opt for the CEE mains, they will have to miss a semester in their postgraduate programme. If they skip the CCE mains examination, they will have to apply again for it later. Taking this in view, we request the APSC to defer the CCE Mains so as to let the postgraduate students appear in both the examinations, the CCE Mains and the PG Semester. The APSC not deferring the APSC mains will be an injustice to the postgraduate students." Over ten thousand candidates have cleared the CCE preliminary exam in 2022.
