GUWAHATI: A delegation of Moran
community met Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at Assam Administrative Staff
College on Friday and discussed with him several issues relating to the
community. During the discussion Chief Minister Sonowal said that the Assam
government has been taking sincere steps for development of Moran community and
addressing its various issues. He said that the State government introduced
State level award in the name of Bir Raghab Moran for the first time with a
view to give due recognition to the community in building the greater Assamese
society. He also assured to take necessary steps for addressing the flood and
erosion problem of Anantanala and Hatighuli area.
Minister for Finance, Health etc. Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, MoS (i/c) for Tea Tribes Welfare Sanjay Kishan, MP Pradan Baruah, MLA Balin Chetia and Additional Chief Secretary to CM Paban Kumar Borthakur were present in the discussion apart from former President of All Moran Students' Union Arunjyoti Moran.
The delegation was represented by members of All Moran Sabha, All Moran Students Union, Sadou Moran Kala Sanskriti Bikash Kendra, Moran Jaitya Mahila Parishad, Moran Jatiya Karmachari Saikhikh Bikash Mancha and Moran Sahitya Sabha, stated a press release.
