Dengue remains a cause of concern in Assam

GUWAHATI: Post monsoons, the number of vector-borne diseases has come down in recent times. However, the number of dengue infections has not come down as much as the other diseases. According to the numbers published by the Health Department, 54 cases of dengue remained active on September 25. Out of them, 12 cases are in the Dima Hasao district, 8 in the Jorhat district and 34 in the Karbi Anglong East district. The State, however, has no positive cases of malaria or Japanese Encephalities. From January 1 to September 25, 2023, the State saw a total of 497 cases of Japanese Encephalitis, 6,074 cases of dengue and 340 cases of malaria. Out of that, 34 people have died of Japanese Encephalites and 6 of dengue during the same time duration.
