Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu issues instructions for Bishwakarma Puja

GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (Metro) District Administration has issued a set of instructions which are to be followed during the upcoming Bishwakarma Puja and Mahalaya which will be observed on Thursday.

The district administration has prohibited gathering of crowd at public places and during the time of puja offering only 15 persons will be allowed at a time while maintain social distancing.

Construction of pandals/commercial stalls in public places including on roads will not be permitted. The administration has also barred the committees from the use of special lightning and use of sound system to avoid attraction of gatherings. The district administration has also urged puja committees to avoid the distribution of cooked food as prasad and instead distribute dry prasad.

Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu said that no procession will be allowed for immersion purpose and also no cultural programme will be allowed during.

Wearing of masks and maintaining physical distancing has also been mandated at puja pandals.

Requesting the citizens to follow the instructions, the DC added that legal actions will be taken immediately against the violators.
