Digital world has changed pace of communication: LR Vishwanath

GUWAHATI: Press Information Bureau, Guwahati organized an interactive session on "Digital Leadership and Government- the Communication Narratives" with the students of the Department of Mass Communication of Assam University, Silchar on Monday.

The main objective of the Interactive session was to make the students aware and enhance their knowledge about how government information system is working on digital communication for more effective result.

The interactive session with the students was held by LR Vishwanath, Head of Department, Directorate General, North East Zone, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Mentioning that the communication is the key to success Vishwanath highlighted how the digital world has changed the pace of communication. "The content of communication is very crucial as it has to be precise and pointed rather than be verbose and diffused," he said.

Giving reference of the Government activities Vishwanath said that the government is the largest operator of essential communication being the national repository of people's mandate and welfare. He said that the Indian context is a very bright example of developing a vibrant communication narrative due to the country's promising economic profile. He also explained how Press Information Bureau and Bureau of Outreach Communication are working specially in such crisis situation to disseminate proper information to the masses using digital media. Vishwanath also ensured that his office will in future may like to orient the students of the University through internship to give them the knowledge about how these offices work.

Vishwanath made a presentation on Digital Leadership and Government followed by a question and answer session. Around 40 participants were present in the interactive session. Students of Assam University actively took part in the question and answer session.

Dr. S.M Alfarid Hussain, Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication, Assam University, expressed his gratitude to Press Information Bureau, Guwahati and also to LR Vishwanath for holding the interactive session. (PIB)
