GUWAHATI: The Dispur Police has arrested two persons for allegedly duping several people on the pretext of providing jobs at the Cooperative City Bank Ltd. The accused have been identified as Manash Talukdar, a resident of Chachal, and Kaushik Talukdar from Indrapur.

According to the police, the accused took Rs 2 to 3 lakh from each person and provided them fake appointment letters of the Cooperative City Bank Ltd.

The accused also forged the signature and seal of the Managing Director of the bank, the police said. During the operation, the police recovered as many as 10 fake appointment letters from the accused.

In this regard, a case (2513/21) has been registered at the Dispur Police Station and the duo is under four-day police custody. The police stated that many persons are involved in the racket and the mastermind, Deepjyoti Saikia is on the run.
