Guwahati: The Don Bosco School Week is one of such unique amalgamation of multi discipline activities where students had the opportunity to choose, participate, showcase and hone their latent talents.
This year’s School Week extravaganza was inaugurated by Suranjana Senapati, the first female secretary of Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA). During the inaugural function the ceremonial lamp was lit to evoke the blessing of the Almighty. A beautiful dance performance by the students of Class XII, words of wisdom by Principal Father Sebastian Mathew and a motivating speech by the SEBA secretary created an ambience for the opening of a grand fiesta.
Activities during the School Week included Quiz contest, Spell Bee, Declamation Competition, Storytelling contest, Chess and Carom Competition , Dance and Music Competition, Mime Competition, Model United Nations Workshop, May Day Celebration, Club activities, Creative Writing and Painting and lots more. The purpose of creating such wide diversity in the activities is to cater to the needs, demands, tastes, aptitudes and age of children. While some activities were tuned in accordance with the younger children, some were exclusively reserved for the matured ones. Routine and venues were pre decided and announced in advance for the smooth functioning of the programme. It was immensely encouraging to see the confluence of mentors and mentees work with such zeal and gusto. The school week concluded with gaiety, with the very ethnic Don Bosco Rongali Bihu Utsav on May 4. On May 6, students were appreciated by the principal with merit certificates to encourage them to participate in such co-curricular events.
