Dr. Samudra Gupta Kashyap appointed as Chancellor of Nagaland University

 GUWAHATI: The President of India has appointed eminent journalist, author, and former State Information Commissioner of Assam Dr. Samudra Gupta Kashyap as Chancellor of Nagaland University. A notification issued by the Registrar of Nagaland University on Tuesday said the President of India, in her capacity as Visitor of the University, has appointed Dr. Kashyap for a period of five years. The appointment by the President was communicated to Nagaland University by the Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education, Government of India. Dr. Kashyap has been associated with several academic and educational institutions, including the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, the Indian Institute of Democratic Leadership, the OKD Institute of Social Change and Development, the Centre for South-East Asian Studies (Gauhati University), and JB College, to name a few. A bi-lingual writer, Dr. Kashyap, author and co-author of over twenty books in English and Assamese, was until recently the State Information Commissioner in Assam. A graduate of Cotton College (Gauhati University) and a distinguished alumnus of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (New Delhi), Dr. Kashyap had remained a journalist for close to four decades, stated a press release.
