GUWAHATI: A drug de-addiction camp for screening, advice, treatment etc., for drug users was organized by an NGO Committee on Socio Economic & Health Development Assam (COSEHDA) on Saturday at Gandhibasti in Guwahati. Around 62 drug addict patients were treated by Psychiatric Dr. Mallika Bora and the team at the camp.

Dr. Sondeep Hanse, Chief Functionary of State level Coordinating Agency for the State of Assam and Meghalaya, said, "Under Drug Prevention Schemes of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE), Government of India, this type of community-based drug de-addiction programmes would be milestone to solve the problems of rising menace of drug abuse in our society." COSEHDA NGO has been running Outreach and Drop in Centre (ODIC) at Jayanagar in Guwahati under the initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE), Government of India. This ODIC programme conducts outreach hotspot camp to reach drug users for treatment programmes under the NGO COSEHDA at Guwahati.
