Drug peddler Mofizul Haque injured in police firing

GUWAHATI: The Special Task Force (STF) and Morigaon Police carried out a joint operation in the Barbari locality under the jurisdiction of the Dharamtul Police Station. The operation was carried out based on the information provided in the confession of a notorious narcotics peddler named Mofizul Haque and led to the recovery of narcotics.

But the accused Mofizul Haque attempted to flee during the operation injuring an Assam Police constable named Indrajit Gogoi and leading to the officials firing at the accused. He sustained injuries in one of his legs and was admitted to a hospital in Morigaon, from where he was referred to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

Meanwhile, the medical report mentioned the conditions of the accused to be stable. He was admited with bullet injuries on his right leg, with an entry wound in the back and an exit wound in the front of his leg.
