Drugs seized, five held by Assam Police in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A team of CGPD (Central Guwahati Police District) from Panbazar Police

Station conducted raids at Lakhtakia SS Road and apprehended two drug traffickers. The apprehended persons are Mehboob Ali (son of Sahed Ali — resident of Borbhita Village under Tarabari Police Station in Barpeta District); and Rongmola Begum (wife of Rabikul Islam — resident of 1 No Tengnarbhita under Gosaigaon Police Station under Kokrajhar District.

The following items were recovered from their possession: Two soap boxes of heroin; 99 plastic vials filled with heroin; 300 empty plastic vials; Rs 1,01,000; and three mobile handsets, informed Police sources.

SATGAON RAID: In connection with case number 225/21 u/s21(a)/25/27/27(A) NDPS Act under Satgaon Police Station, a team raided the house of Sanu Sonar (31) at Panjabari in Kailash Nagar on Tuesday evening. He is son of late Mohan Sonar. The Police recovered seven plastic containers weighing around 29.20 gram of suspected 'Brown Sugar'; two empty containers; a syringe and a soap box.

During the raid, two more peddlers were also apprehended. They have been identified as Robi Ali (23) — son of late Putul Ali, resident of Kailash Nagar; and, Karan Basumatary (26) — son of Kishore Basumatary of Surya Nagar.

ANTI-DRUG OPERATION IN JALUKBARI: Acting on a tipoff, a joint team of Police personnel from Jalukbari Out Post and those of SOGs (Special Operations Group) of WGPD (West Guwahati Police District) carried out a raid at Satmile under Jalukbari Police Station in Kamrup (M) on Tuesday night.

The Police arrested a 20-year-old youth identified as Ridip Das — son of Pradip Das of Satmile in this regard. The personnel recovered from his possession 32 vials containing suspected heroin of 40.83 gram, and also three plastic containers tobacco weighing 21.58 gram. Investigation is underway, added police sources.
