Drugs worth Rs 80 lakh seized; four held by Assam Police

GUWAHATI: In continuation of Assam Police war against drugs, a team led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Kalyan Pathak carried out a raid at a rented house in the Surujmukhi Path of the Ghoramara area here on Tuesday night and seized drugs worth around Rs 80 lakh.

Police sources said that three criminals were arrested in this connection – Dipankar Roy of Patharkandi, Milton Chakraborty of Shillong and Abhi Das of Nalbari. Milton Chakraborty had been arrested earlier too in a drugs-related case.

In another incident, the Azara police also recovered 2.12 gm of heroin along with 16 containers from the Dharapur area and arrested one Mridul Baruah (29), a resident of the Thakuriapara area of Azara, in this connection.

Sources said that a case (2/2023 u/s 22(a) of the NDPS Act) has been registered at the Azara Police Station.
