GUWAHATI: It was a splendid experience for many to watch Amrutaa Vibho create magic as she played the Acoustic Drums as well as performed Konnakkol - Vocal Percussion of Carnatic Rhythm that dates back to the Tamil Sangam Literature Age. It left many spell-bound as the young drummer is among the first, anywhere in the world where a single artist performed a Jugalbandi between Drums and Konnakkol.
Amrutaa, who very recently topped the National E-quiz on Rhythm, presented the five main exhaustive patterns of Carnatic Classical Music, namely 4x4 (Adi Talam), 5x4 (Khanda Chaapu), 6x4 (Rupaka Talam), 7x4 (Misra Chaapu) and 9x4 (Sankirnam). These five jaatis are also common to Hindustani Classical and Western Music.
She is a student of Trinity College London where she is training for Acoustics drums. She had trained under the dedicated and watchful guidance of famed rhythmist Mridanga Selvam Kumbakonam Dr. N. Padmanaban for this incredible feat.
Amrutaa was supported in this project on the Keyboard by her twin sister, Akshayaa Vibho.
The celebrities who endorsed Amrutaa's performance include the world famous Ghatam Player Padma Vibhushan Vikku Vinayakaram, renowned singer Padma Shri Kailash Kher, and noted rhythm maestro Kumbakonam Dr. N. Padmanaban.
The six-day musical extravaganza titled Drumsddhwani was telecast live on The Sentinel Assam's Facebook and YouTube pages generating over 25,000 views on an average.
