GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Crime Branch has arrested two persons in connection to a case where a gang from Jharkhand was demanding cash from candidates who have taken recruitment examinations in the State Health Department.

The arrested duo has been identified as – Mohammad Saleh Ahmed Borbhuyan and Imtiyaz Borbhuyan. Both are residents of Hailakandi and were arrested from their rented house in the Dispur area.

They are part of a racket that was operating from Jharkhand. Earlier, a person named Kamesh Pal was arrested from Jamshedpur in this connection.

According to reports, the fraudsters used to telephone a number of candidates who took recruitment examinations in the Health department. They even got cash from a few candidates on the pretext of confirming their seat for the job.

Police sources said that the fraudsters convinced candidates by 'disclosing their secured marks' against the cut-off mark.

The duo was presented before the CJM Court on Monday following which they were sent to a day's custody of the Crime Branch.
