GUWAHATI: For the purpose of creating awareness about Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) amongst the public and capacity building of technical professionals ranging from government executives to private practitioners, several awareness programs and intensive training workshops respectively have been held in the State by the ECBC Cell of Assam with the support of Assam State Designated Agency (ASDA) headed by the CEO AC Khataniar, Bureau of Energy Efficiency and All India Institute of Local Self-Govt (AIILSG), New Delhi.
The ECBC launched by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India, is a set of guidelines that provide minimum requirements for energy efficient design and construction of new commercial buildings.
The ECBC Rules and Code of Assam, which is specifically developed to suit the local climatic conditions of Assam, are in the process of being notified in the State Gazette, stated a release.
Due to the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, trainings are being given through webinars conducted and moderated online by ECBC Cell Project Officers Angana Das and Dane Daniel where BEE certified ECBC Master Trainers, Ragini Goswami, Shiv Batra and Yatin Choudhary have been the resource persons and trainers. With over 100 registrations, these webinars have been attended by government officials, practising architects, engineers, planners, professionals from other fields and students of Assam. The latest webinar of the series was conducted on September 16, 2020.
