GUWAHATI: The AJYCP (Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad) has said that the evaluation formula announced by the Education Minister is meaningless as its certificates and mark sheets will not be accepted in future recruitment for government jobs.

"Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has stateAJYCP (Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad) , government jobs.. Educationd that the certificates and mark sheets which will be issued based on the evaluation formula will not be accepted in various recruitments for government jobs. The students would be given an option to appear in special board examinations once the COVID situation improves in the State. If the mark sheet is valueless then what is the point of the evaluation formula? The Education Minister is playing with the future of seven lakh candidates. This decision has prevailed panic and anxiety among the students. The Education Department didn't answer a big question as to how will the students apply in other educational institutions with these valueless mark sheets?" said AJYCP president Rana Pratap Baruah.

AJYCP general secretary Palash Changmai stressed that the SEBA (Board of Secondary Education Assam) and AHSEC (Assam Higher Secondary Education Council) were ready to conduct examinations amid the pandemic. However, the State government tried to gain political mileage by not conducting the examinations, he added.

"The Education Department held discussions with various organizations about conducting the examinations. In this regard, the department also formed two committees. However, despite such initiatives, it couldn't take a good decision for the betterment of the seven lakh candidates," added the AJYCP president.

The AJYCP has demanded that given the future of the students, the mark sheets and certificates issued after the evaluation formula should have recognition for the future.

"If the government cannot give recognition to the certificates and mark sheets then the examinations should be conducted by following the COVID protocols," said Baruah.

It is to be noted that a team of AJYCP met SEBA Chairman and discussed the issue. It also submitted a memorandum to the SEBA Chairman.
