GUWAHATI: The Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) has welcomed Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s decision regarding the implementation of the Mukhya Mantri Lok Sevak Arogya Yojana for the employees of the state. The chief minister demonstrated this new scheme and integrated with representatives of more than 50 employee organisations regarding the implementation of this scheme.

The CM had mentioned that this scheme would be completely voluntary for the employees. Those who want to avail themselves of the scheme have to register themselves on an online portal along with their account details. Those who avail themselves of this scheme will be able to avail themselves of services at any hospital in the country. The previous system involved the permission of a medical board to avail treatment outside the state, but it has been removed in the new system.

If any hospital needs any down payment for the necessary medical procedure, the state government will make arrangements to deposit the same directly into the hospital’s accounts. If any expenditure is made by the employee, the same will be reimbursed within 90 days by the state. For those who want to avail of the facility, Rs 250, 450, 650, or 1000 will be deducted from their accounts based on their ranks. The Rs 600 medical allowance will not be stopped, and the employees will be able to opt out of the scheme at any time in the future if they want to do so. This scheme will work in line with the Central Government Health Scheme.

Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad president Dwipen Sarma said, “We had a demand for a healthcare policy for a very long time, and we welcome this decision of the CM. We have no complaints, but we had requested a complete cashless scheme and access to the OPD benefits, which are missing in the scheme. We believe that the CM will make the necessary modifications in the future after its proposed launch on August 15.”
