GUWAHATI: As a part of Special Campaign 3.0 of the Government of India, EPI’s NE Regional Office, Guwahati, organized a speech competition on the topic of ‘Swachhta’ at Guwahati Blind High School, Latakata, Guwahati, on Saturday.

The special campaign 3.0 officially commenced on September 15 with the preparatory phase, which pinpointed cleanliness targets. The implementation phase of the campaign started on October 2 and will continue until October 31. On this occasion, Ravi Shankar Ravi, Editor of Dainik Purvoday, was present as Chief Guest of the Programme.

Amit Goel, AGM-Finance, welcomed the Chief Guest with Assamese phulaam gamosa. He expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest for gracing the programme. And Bidur Halder, AGM, honoured the principal of the school, Nirupama Bhattacharya, with an Assamese gamosha. In his speech, the chief guest said that he got the opportunity to learn a lot by coming to Guwahati Blind High School. The special students expressed their views on cleanliness, sang songs, and proved that life is meant to continuously move forward.

Participating students were divided into two groups. Students from classes 1 to V were part of group 1, and students from classes VI to X were part of group II. Dhrubajit Barman, Liza Sharma, and Januka Devi were awarded first, second, and third prizes, respectively, in Group I. And Nabamita Haloi, Nilakshi Nath, and Jinku Kalita were awarded first, second, and third prizes, respectively, in Group II. The winning students were felicitated with prizes and certificates.

The employees posted at the North Eastern Regional Office, Guwahati, and its controlled site offices contributed a sum of Rs 50,000 for the welfare of the students. The programme was organized and conducted by Shailesh Sharma, Manager-HR. Rohan Mandal, IT Manager, also contributed to organising the programme. Tribhuban Yadav, senior manager, and other employees of EPIL were present at the programme, stated a press release.
