GUWAHATI: Reacting to a misleading information hitting headlines in a section of the media that the 'first Bishnupriya Manipuri dictionary' by Dils Lakshmindra Sinha and others was released recently (in April this year), the former president of the Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Sabha (BMSS), Manindra Kumar Sinha (IFS-retired), made it clear that the first and only Etymological Dictionary of Bishnupriya Manipuri by Dr KP Sinha was published by Punthi Pustak, Calcutta, 1986, and after that Manikanta Sinha, general secretary of the Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Sabha, published a Bishnupriya Manipuri-English Dictionary, also of Dr KP Sinha, in February 2022. Prof. Kamini Mohan Sinha of Krishnajyoti Production, Guwahati-29, Assam, also published a dictionary 'Anglo-Bishnupriya Manipuri Standard Dictionary, compiled and edited by Kumkum Sinha, M.A., B.T., LLB, former Director, State Council of Educational Research and Training, Assam, in 2019.
