GUWAHATI: An ex-servicemen’s rally was held at Narangi Military Station on Sunday by HQ 51 Sub Area. The rally was attended by more than 1,000 Veer Naaris, ex-servicemen and their dependents from Kamrup (Metro) and Kamrup districts. The event was presided over by State Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi. Other senior dignitaries present included Maj Gen Jarken Gamlin, AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC, 51 Sub Area, besides senior retired officers.
The rally commenced with the welcome address by Maj Gen Jarken Gamlin who emphasized the commitment of the Army towards the welfare of Veer Naaris and Veterans. Then, the rally was addressed by Brig ND Joshi, SM (Retd), Director, Rajya Sainik Board, Assam who apprised regarding various welfare schemes run by the Assam Government for Veer Naaris/Ex-Servicemen. Thereafter, the rally was addressed by the Governor of Assam who praised the valour and sacrifices of the veterans and assured full support from the State towards their welfare. Along with the rally, a medical camp was also organized which benefitted a large number of veterans and families. Other facilities in the rally included assistance booths for processing of Jeevan Praman Patra, Pension anomalies, ECHS Cards, Canteen Smart Cards and assistance in civil re-employment through Army placement node.
