GUWAHATI: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Guwahati, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, will organize a five-day long photo exhibition on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and '8 Years of Seva, Sushasan and Garib Kalyan' at Chandmari in the city from January 18-January 22.
Governor of Assam, Prof Jagdish Mukhi will inaugurate the photo exhibition at the Assam Engineering Institute (AEI) playground, Chandmari on Wednesday. Minister of Information & Public Relations, Government of Assam, Pijush Hazarika, Queen Oja, MP, Guwahati and Director General, North East Zone, Ministry of I&B B. Narayanan (IIS) will be present on the occasion.
CBC Guwahati, through the exhibition, aims to highlight the unsung heroes of India's freedom struggle. It will shed light on the lives of the freedom fighters from the north-eastern part of the country –Kushal Konwar, Kanaklata Baruah, Maniram Dewan, Pa Togan Sangma, U Tirot Singh, Haipou Jadonang, Darthawma Renthlei, Moje Riba and more. It will act as a platform for the visitors to learn about the freedom fighters' contribution to India's independence. Various performances viz. dance, drama, puppetry show, interactive sessions, quiz and discussions on Amrit Mahotsav are slated for the five-day event. All the five days will present cultural programmes – folk songs and folk dances depicting the culture and tradition of the different tribes of Assam and the other parts of the Northeast. The artistes of the Song & Drama Division will also perform various dance forms and musical programmes in the event. Food stalls are another highlight of the event. Self-Help Groups will have a platter of delicious cuisines of Assam for the visitors. The five-day photo exhibition will remain free and open to public from January 19-January 22 from 11 AM to 8 PM.
